By establishing and maintaining a work-hard, play-hard culture, best-in-class technology and institutionalized business processes, KCC continues to gain market recognition as a premier provider of administrative-support services in the legal and financial industries.
Eric brings a wealth of experience and expertise in corporate bankruptcy law to his leadership role at KCC based on his former career as a corporate restructuring attorney.
He co-founded KCC, a leading claims and noticing agent, to provide a higher standard of administrative-support services and technology solutions to companies undergoing corporate restructuring. In doing so, he fulfilled a previously unmet need within the restructuring industry for professional-level client service and innovative technology to manage the administrative challenges of corporate restructuring.
As CEO, Eric oversees internal operations of the company, including the design and development of the company's proprietary, web-based technology and the management of the company's offices in Los Angeles, New York and Memphis, Tenn. He also spearheads the consulting group, ensuring a high level of client service during each engagement. Through these endeavors, KCC receives national recognition for its innovative business model and industry leadership. In recognition of his efforts, Eric was selected as 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® in the Services category in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
Before co-founding KCC, Eric was a bankruptcy attorney at Pachulski, Stang, Ziehl, Young & Jones P.C. in its Los Angeles office, representing Chapter 11 debtors, such as Breed Technologies, Sabratek Corporation and Sunbelt Nursery Group, Inc. Previously, he served as an attorney in the Los Angeles office of bankruptcy boutique Murphy, Weir & Butler P.C.
Based on his extensive knowledge of bankruptcy law, Eric is a contributing author of “First-Day Motions Manual: A Practical Guide to the Critical First Days of A Bankruptcy Case,” a reference that provides background on the various motions filed on the first day of a bankruptcy case.
Eric earned his Juris Doctor from the UCLA School of Law and his Master of Business Administration degree from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He graduated as departmental valedictorian from the University of California, Berkeley with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Japanese Politics.
Outside of his role at KCC, Eric is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and a Board Member of the YPO, Las Vegas chapter.
A former corporate-restructuring attorney, Jonathan possesses an in-depth understanding of Chapter 11 and serves as an industry expert on trends and developments within the evolving corporate restructuring arena.
He co-founded Kurtzman Carson Consultants LLC (KCC) to pursue a shared vision for fast, efficient and highly reliable client service from the perspective of professionals who understand corporate restructuring and its administrative challenges. Today, KCC provides administrative-support services and technology solutions for clients’ corporate restructuring, class action and legal document management needs.
Jonathan oversees the company’s business development and marketing initiatives. Additionally, he leads the company’s various growth initiatives, continually seeking new and innovative ways to support clients’ transactions. He was recognized as the winner of the 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® in the Services category in the Greater Los Angeles Area for his entrepreneurial endeavors in developing KCC’s innovative business model and reputation for industry leadership.
Prior to establishing KCC, Jonathan was a corporate-restructuring attorney with Kirkland & Ellis LLP in the firm’s Chicago office, as well as at Pachulski, Stang, Ziehl, Young & Jones P.C in Los Angeles. In his previous positions, Jonathan represented numerous debtors in their restructuring efforts including: United Artists Theatre Corp.; Babcock & Wilcox; Harnischfeger Industries, Inc.; and Indesco International, Inc. Jonathan began his professional career as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Geraldine Mund, United States Bankruptcy Judge, Central District of California (Los Angeles).
A frequent guest speaker at industry events, Jonathan has presented at gatherings of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He lectures on a regular basis at Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago Kent College of Law and the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law.
In 2010, Jonathan co-authored Inside the Minds: Trends in Commercial Bankruptcy Filings published by Aspatore Books. He is the author of Pre-petition Capital Contributions: The Road to Equitable Treatment in Bankruptcy, 3 Columbia Business Law Review 403 (1999) and Recovering Avoidable Transfers under Section 550 of the Bankruptcy Code: Defining “for the benefit of the estate,” 72 Chicago-Kent Law Review 589 (1996). His thoughts and perspectives have been profiled in leading industry publications such as American Lawyer, The Deal, Daily Bankruptcy Review and Turnarounds & Workouts.
Admitted to practice law in California and Illinois, Jonathan earned his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He is an active member of the Young President's Organization (YPO), Los Angeles chapter.
As President, Bryan drives strategic planning and key growth initiatives for KCC, a market leader in claims administration support services. Bryan’s leadership style builds upon the company's responsive services approach, industry expertise and innovative technologies. He is committed to fostering client satisfaction through long-term and trust-based relationships; an approach that he has cultivated over his 16-year career in the financial and securities industries. In addition to his role as President, Bryan is a member of the Computershare North America Executive leadership team.
Prior to KCC, Bryan was the Executive Vice President of Computershare’s M&A Strategy group, growing Computershare’s US-based business units through strategic acquisitions and partnerships. Most recently, Bryan led the acquisition team for Kurtzman Carson Consultants (KCC), Specialized Loan Servicing (SLS) and Rosenthal & Company.
Bryan joined Shareholder Communications in 1994, which acquired Georgeson and subsequently was acquired by Computershare. Over the years, he held several business development and leadership positions, responsible for financial and operational performance for various business units.
He is a member of the Securities Transfer Association, the National Investor Relations Institute, the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, and the Shareholders Services Association.
Bryan earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Delaware.
Gerry brings more than 16 years of professional experience to his role as Chief Financial Officer at KCC. As a member of the Executive Committee, he provides strategic oversight, implements and regulates the corporate financial systems as well as serves as a liaison to Computershare, KCC’s parent company. In addition, Gerry oversees class action settlement fund distribution. He is also responsible for fostering relationships with major financial institutions.
Gerry joined KCC after serving as the US Controller at Computershare for nearly 10 years. He previously held financial leadership roles with the Irish Dairy Board and Price Waterhouse Coopers.
Gerry earned a Masters in Business Studies from Dublin City University, where he also completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance. He is a Chartered Accountant.
As Executive Vice President of KCC’s growing class action business, James leads an experienced management team, develops and executes short- and long-term strategies as well as designs innovative settlement administration and noticing solutions.
As a member of KCC's Executive Committee, James works closely with the CEO and President on the company's strategic direction and expansion into new markets. Over the last six years, James Le has held several leadership positions at KCC. Most recently, James served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer, ensuring a high standard of excellence in client service, technology development and financial performance.
Prior to joining KCC, James served as a corporate finance and restructuring consultant with FTI Consulting, Inc. and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
James earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with an emphasis in Accounting and Computing, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Mike brings more than ten years of industry experience to his role as the Chief Technology Officer. He oversees KCC’s team of technology experts to ensure that the company’s proprietary platforms meet the evolving needs of the company’s clients.
As the former Regional Development Manager at Computershare, KCC’s parent company, Mike oversaw a wide range of teams working with a variety of technologies to deliver innovative solutions to multiple business lines. Mike’s background in Information Technology (IT) and Financial Services has allowed him to play integral role in both technical and managerial capacities for several of Computershare’s strategic acquisitions.
Mike earned his degree with Honors in Computer Science from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. His industry recognition includes Incorporated Engineer status from the United Kingdom Engineering Council, and he is also recognized as a Chartered IT Professional by the British Computer Society.
As EVP, Michael drives the strategic direction of the company's business development initiatives. Working closely with other members of the business development team, he oversees the implementation of client-specific events and regional campaigns. In addition, Michael oversees the consulting group and ensures cross-collaboration between the client service teams.
Previously, Michael served as KCC's Vice President of Corporate Restructuring focused on enhancing the company's suite of Chapter 11 service offerings and improving internal processes to better meet client needs.
Prior to joining KCC, Michael was a partner in the Restructuring Group at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in the firm's New York office. Michael represented debtors and official committees in Chapter 11 restructurings such as Solutia, Inc., Allegiance Telecom, Inc., Teligent, Inc., Newcor, Inc. and Quality Stores, Inc.
Michael graduated with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Michigan.
Drake serves as KCC’s General Counsel. While advising on all aspects of the company’s business operations and practices, he plays an integral role in contract review and negotiation.
Prior to joining KCC, Drake was a senior associate in the Financial Restructuring practice at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Focused on corporate restructurings, Drake represented creditors’ committees and bondholder committees, debtors in possession, post-petition lenders and acquirers of distressed assets.
He also has significant experience with corporate financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, and commercial transactions.
Drake received his Juris Doctor cum laude from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. While serving as an articles editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review, he was a member of Order of the Coif and St. Thomas More Law Honor Society, as well as a Sayre MacNeil Scholar. Drake received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Tufts University.
Kristal has more than 16 years of branding, marketing and public relations experience in the professional services industry. As Vice President of Marketing, she has successfully built KCC’s brand awareness, positioning the company as the premier provider of administrative-support services for the legal and financial markets, which has helped to increase the company’s market share.
Prior to KCC, Kristal served as the Manager of Marketing Communications at LRN, a leading provider of ethics and compliance solutions. Previously, Kristal held multiple positions a branding and interactive media consultancy, Siegel & Gale, LLC, a member of Omnicom Group’s Diversified Agency Services. Before joining Siegel & Gale, Kristal held several positions at Deloitte & Touche, one of the world’s largest professional services firms. As a Marketing professional for the Pacific Southwest Region, she managed marketing initiatives for the audit, tax and consulting practices.
Kristal graduated from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
